Betsy and Brixton Have Passed

Brixton and Betsy have passed. I went in last night and Brixton and Betsy had both passed. This is not an epidemic of something, all of my ratties are getting very old. :*( Brixton was a PEW that came to Vermin Village from a woman that was hitching cross country. She knew that wasn't the way to travel with a rat so I took the rattie girl in. She has been prepared for cremation at the Oregon Humane Society. Betsy was one of the girls that came from the Washington County Animal Shelter. A friend had her before me but they normally keep and rescue other animals that are even more high maintencance than rats. So Betsy, Gretta and Hannah came to me. Hannah was PTS a few months ago. Betsy is survived by her cage mate Gretta that has also slowed down significantly as well Both Betsy and Brixton have been prepared for private cremation at OHS. Rest in Peace Betsy and Brixton!

Betsy Leaves for the Bridge

Betsy was helped to the bridge today. Her tumors were just taking too much out of her. Betsy is a second chance little girl in that she was taken to the Washington County Animal Shelter with several other ratties. They do not keep rats there so thanks to a friend that stepped in, these ratties were saved from being put to sleep. It was unknown exactly how old Betsy was. She is survived by her two "sisters" that she came with, Gretta and Hannah. Be free little one.

Susie Joins the Group

Susie was adopted today from the Oregon Humane Society (OHS). She is about 18 months old. She is part of their second chance program and came from the Mt. Shasta area. She had just gotten placed on the "floor" when I happened in there. She was huddled in a corner. I asked where her paperwork was. Took her home today. Right now she is chilling in a carrier in the bathroom with some food and water and blankets. I'm cleaning cages tonight so she'll move in right away with her new friends. To make it really interesting, I'll be merging 2 cages together anyway. Luciano (neutered boy), Spot (neutered boy), Pip (spayed girl), Smudge, (spayed girl), and Gretta, Hannah, and Betsy, Sammie and Brixton and now Susie will be sharing a 4 level tower.

All is well!

Bella and Her New Friends

Well, Betsy, Hannah, Gretta, Sammie, Brixton and Bella are getting along wonderfully. It appears I was incorrect with the lump on Bella. It disappeared by Thursday. This is very good news. The girls love their new cage set up and they are all very playful when I go in to visit with them. I don't know of a better group of rats where the introduction went so smoothly. I think it had to do with the age spread and how I worked up to the introduction.

Anyway just a quick note to let original parents know their kids are ok.

Yeah!
